Personal Celebration of Friendship
Sun, August 13, 2006 at 11:35AM Inspired by the farewell party/dinner for two of us arranged by our kantor sometime ago, we decided to arrange a dinner and invited our close families, friends and colleagues. It was a sudden plan, so we were verrrry surprise that actually almost everybody was there…!!
The venue was in this Indian/Thailand Restaurant in Central Jakarta. We waited and served the appetizer in the bar downstairs until everyone gathered and continued with dinner upstairs. It was a mix of Thai food and Indian food.. Haha, was strange I know, but it worked quite well… :)
Anyway, again, the presence of my closest ones really really meant a lot to me. We invited them saying that this is marthijn's and my farewell dinner, but actually I don’t like it if we say that. The word "farewell" gives impression that it was some kind of a closure and these guys have been friends with me like almost forever.. How can there be a closure? Can not.. for sure. These guys are the ones who have been very supportive for years and years of my life: who always provide their listening ears whenever (I repeat, WHENEVER) I need them; who are happy for good things happen to me and are also not happy when things are not so good. They are also the first persons who readily give their helping hands whenever I go to them asking, "I need your help… please please!". And ya, they are also the ones who always succeed in making a really good laugh.. Hehe. Somehow, although they don’t say it too much, I know how much they care about me.. it is just as much as I care about them! (haha, I hope I am not being a big head now).. :)
There is a saying "Time Flies When You Are Having Fun" that is so true. Marthijn and I were having so much fun we didn’t realize that our time is up and we need to go now, whether we like it or not. And there is also a saying "Out of Sight, Out of Mind" that is a total bullshit. There is no such thing. Not with these guys.
Given that fact above, I wouldn't say that night a "Farewell Dinner" but a "Celebration-of-Friendship Dinner", instead. Sounds better, right? :)
I thought so.
Long live Friendship!!
Here are some pictures:
with my super girls... :)

thru thick n thin we have been! what can i say about them.. i love you girls! ki-ka: cordel, nila, fifi, dina, myself, ingkan, cinta n tony. hmm.. no nina n acun in this pic.
oh, here they are...

with my junior highschool friends...

hehe... our friendship is both sweet and scary. We were very close back in 1991 when we still looked very young and....ehm, different (haha, dont tell me!). We were separated for a very looong time and somehow we met up again after 10years or so and we are still as close as we were in the old days. We do not meet up very often but at least regularly... emailing almost every day.. ngopi2 and dinner in friday evenings, hehe. Too bonded we are. Isnt that scary? :)
ki-ka: rizka, didit, myself, dini, dewo n ade (yeah, rock on, de!! hidup motley crue! hidup tommy lee.. yeah!)
now with my "gila" colleagues....

everyone who works for a company must agree with me: some days are just sooo boring you just want to get out and not be back to that stupid office for weeks!! Right? Well, luckily i am surrounded by these guys... they make my life a lot easier and for sure a lot funner (pardon my language) in the office. Can't say that they are my colleagues, they are actually my close friends that happened to work in the same office. There you go. :)
ki-ka: mas ted (ayulik's mas), ayulik, myself, marthijn, novi (abang's mbak), abang, reza, mia (oga's mbak), oga and radit.
now this pic is us with my super gila and super berisik highschool bestfriend with her super garing husband...

everytime reni and i meet up is like a curse on its own. We never stopped laughing.. we just can't!! She used to call me "patchar" whatever that means, but i guess that was because we were too close, haha. Nowadays because of my sok sibuk schedule, we did not meet too much lately, but jauh di mata dekat di hati ya, tcharr.... Jangan marah-marah melulu dooong sama gw... :)
ki-ka: reni, myself, marthijn and derry.
and last but not least.. my family...

oh oh... i'm really lost for words now to say something about them... what can you normally say about your family.... no matter where you are and how you're doing, they are your family.. and i love them dearly. i am so blessed to be raised by such beautiful persons like you are!
ki-ka: bude reni, my pretty little sister evi, myself, my forever beautiful uti, my 38-year-old-look-alike-cantik mama, bude ning, pakde win, marthijn, my i-want-to-sing-anywhere-and-i-really-love-those-stage-and-karaoke-microphone papa. Too bad my cantik sister, dinda, is not there in the pic... where was she when the pic was taken..??
There are of course some more pictures. Click here.
